2014-10-21xtensa: remove s6000 variant and s6105 platformDaniel Glöckner
The Stretch s6000 family support has been merged into mainline 5 years ago. There appear to be no users of this code since nobody complained that there is a merge error preventing compilation. Apart from the s6105 IP camera reference design there are no s6000 devices known to ever have run Linux and as the chips are out of production there probably never will be. The successor s7000 no longer uses an Xtensa core for the OS. Let's remove the code until someone is found who actually needs it. 2014-01-30Merge branch 'for-3.14/core' of git://git.kernel.dk/linux-blockLinus Torvalds
Pull core block IO changes from Jens Axboe: "The major piece in here is the immutable bio_ve series from Kent, the rest is fairly minor. It was supposed to go in last round, but various issues pushed it to this release instead. The pull request contains: - Various smaller blk-mq fixes from different folks. Nothing major here, just minor fixes and cleanups. - Fix for a memory leak in the error path in the block ioctl code from Christian Engelmayer. - Header export fix from CaiZhiyong. - Finally the immutable biovec changes from Kent Overstreet. This enables some nice future work on making arbitrarily sized bios possible, and splitting more efficient. Related fixes to immutable bio_vecs: - dm-cache immutable fixup from Mike Snitzer. - btrfs immutable fixup from Muthu Kumar. - bio-integrity fix from Nic Bellinger, which is also going to stable" * 'for-3.14/core' of git://git.kernel.dk/linux-block: (44 commits) xtensa: fixup simdisk driver to work with immutable bio_vecs block/blk-mq-cpu.c: use hotcpu_notifier() blk-mq: for_each_* macro correctness block: Fix memory leak in rw_copy_check_uvector() handling bio-integrity: Fix bio_integrity_verify segment start bug block: remove unrelated header files and export symbol blk-mq: uses page->list incorrectly blk-mq: use __smp_call_function_single directly btrfs: fix missing increment of bi_remaining Revert "block: Warn and free bio if bi_end_io is not set" block: Warn and free bio if bi_end_io is not set blk-mq: fix initializing request's start time block: blk-mq: don't export blk_mq_free_queue() block: blk-mq: make blk_sync_queue support mq block: blk-mq: support draining mq queue dm cache: increment bi_remaining when bi_end_io is restored block: fixup for generic bio chaining block: Really silence spurious compiler warnings block: Silence spurious compiler warnings block: Kill bio_pair_split() ...

Simdisk is a block device that maps to a file in the host file system. It is usable for testing in the simulated environment, like xt-sim or QEMU. Device binding to host file may be changed at runtime via proc interface provided the device is not in use. Number of block devices and initial binding to host files is controlled via kernel/module parameters, with defaults specified in the kernel configuration. 2013-01-15TTY: switch tty_flip_buffer_pushJiri Slaby
Now, we start converting tty buffer functions to actually use tty_port. This will allow us to get rid of the need of tty in many call sites. Only tty_port will needed and hence no more tty_port_tty_get in those paths. Now, the one where most of tty_port_tty_get gets removed: tty_flip_buffer_push. IOW we also closed all the races in drivers not using tty_port_tty_get at all yet. Also we move tty_flip_buffer_push declaration from include/linux/tty.h to include/linux/tty_flip.h to all others while we are changing it anyway. 2013-01-15TTY: switch tty_insert_flip_charJiri Slaby
Now, we start converting tty buffer functions to actually use tty_port. This will allow us to get rid of the need of tty in many call sites. Only tty_port will needed and hence no more tty_port_tty_get in those paths. tty_insert_flip_char is the next one to proceed. This one is used all over the code, so the patch is huge. 2012-11-15TTY: call tty_port_destroy in the rest of driversJiri Slaby
After commit "TTY: move tty buffers to tty_port", the tty buffers are not freed in some drivers. This is because tty_port_destructor is not called whenever a tty_port is freed. This was an assumption I counted with but was unfortunately untrue. So fix the drivers to fulfil this assumption. To be sure, the TTY buffers (and later some stuff) are gone along with the tty_port, we have to call tty_port_destroy at tear-down places. This is mostly where the structure containing a tty_port is freed. This patch does exactly that -- put tty_port_destroy at those places. 2012-10-15xtensa: ISS: fix rs_put_charMax Filippov
ISS serial console prints garbage instead of symbols printed via rs_put_char. gcc optimizes away putting prined symbol into memory buffer because there's no evidence that the buffer is used afterwards. Make rs_put_char and rs_write use simc_write that has explicit wmb. Signed-off-by: Max Filippov <jcmvbkbc@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: Chris Zankel <chris@zankel.net>
