2013-04-02replace last __bss_end__ occurrences with __bss_endAlbert ARIBAUD
Simon Glass' commit 3929fb0a141530551b3fce15ee08629f80d5ef2a, which changed all occurrences of __bss__end__ into __bss_end, left behind some untouched __bss_end__ occurrences in all 33 u-boot.lds.debug files, in board/mousse/u-boot.lds.ram and in board/mousse/u-boot.lds.rom. These are replaced here. Signed-off-by: Albert ARIBAUD <albert.u.boot@aribaud.net>
2013-04-01Consolidate bool typeYork Sun
'bool' is defined in random places. This patch consolidates them into a single header file include/linux/types.h, using stdbool.h introduced in C99. All other #define, typedef and enum are removed. They are all consistent with true = 1, false = 0. Replace FALSE, False with false. Replace TRUE, True with true. Skip *.py, *.php, lib/* files. Signed-off-by: York Sun <yorksun@freescale.com>
2013-03-12Refactor linker-generated arraysAlbert ARIBAUD
Refactor linker-generated array code so that symbols which were previously linker-generated are now compiler- generated. This causes relocation records of type R_ARM_ABS32 to become R_ARM_RELATIVE, which makes code which uses LGA able to run before relocation as well as after. Note: this affects more than ARM targets, as linker- lists span possibly all target architectures, notably PowerPC. Conflicts: arch/arm/cpu/arm926ejs/mxs/u-boot-spl.lds arch/arm/cpu/arm926ejs/spear/u-boot-spl.lds arch/arm/cpu/armv7/omap-common/u-boot-spl.lds board/ait/cam_enc_4xx/u-boot-spl.lds board/davinci/da8xxevm/u-boot-spl-da850evm.lds board/davinci/da8xxevm/u-boot-spl-hawk.lds board/vpac270/u-boot-spl.lds Signed-off-by: Albert ARIBAUD <albert.u.boot@aribaud.net>
2012-10-22common: Discard the __u_boot_cmd sectionMarek Vasut
The command declaration now uses the new LG-array method to generate list of commands. Thus the __u_boot_cmd section is now superseded and redundant and therefore can be removed. Also, remove externed symbols associated with this section from include/command.h . 2010-11-17Switch from archive libraries to partial linkingSebastien Carlier
Before this commit, weak symbols were not overridden by non-weak symbols found in archive libraries when linking with recent versions of binutils. As stated in the System V ABI, "the link editor does not extract archive members to resolve undefined weak symbols". This commit changes all Makefiles to use partial linking (ld -r) instead of creating library archives, which forces all symbols to participate in linking, allowing non-weak symbols to override weak symbols as intended. This approach is also used by Linux, from which the gmake function cmd_link_o_target (defined in config.mk and used in all Makefiles) is inspired. The name of each former library archive is preserved except for extensions which change from ".a" to ".o". This commit updates references accordingly where needed, in particular in some linker scripts. This commit reveals board configurations that exclude some features but include source files that depend these disabled features in the build, resulting in undefined symbols. Known such cases include: - disabling CMD_NET but not CMD_NFS; - enabling CONFIG_OF_LIBFDT but not CONFIG_QE. Signed-off-by: Sebastien Carlier <sebastien.carlier@gmail.com>

2010-10-18Makefile: move all Power Architecture boards into boards.cfgWolfgang Denk
Clean up Makefile, and drop a lot of the config.mk files on the way. We now also automatically pick all boards that are listed in boards.cfg (and with all configurations), so we can drop the redundant entries from MAKEALL to avoid building these twice. Signed-off-by: Wolfgang Denk <wd@denx.de>
2010-10-18Rename TEXT_BASE into CONFIG_SYS_TEXT_BASEWolfgang Denk
The change is currently needed to be able to remove the board configuration scripting from the top level Makefile and replace it by a simple, table driven script. Moving this configuration setting into the "CONFIG_*" name space is also desirable because it is needed if we ever should move forward to a Kconfig driven configuration system. 2010-10-06board/mpl: Remove mpl-specific memory test commandPeter Tyser
The mpl-specfic memory test is only documented for one board, doesn't compile cleanly, uses improper coding style, and overlaps functionality with U-Boot's common 'mtest' command, so lets get rid of it. 2010-09-23ppc4xx: Big header cleanup part 2, mostly PPC405 relatedStefan Roese
This cleanup is done by creating header files for all SoC versions and moving the SoC specific defines into these special headers. This way the common header ppc405.h and ppc440.h can be cleaned up finally. As a part from this cleanup, the GPIO definitions for PPC405EP are corrected. The high and low parts of the registers (for example CONFIG_SYS_GPIO0_OSRL vs. CONFIG_SYS_GPIO0_OSRH) have been defined in the wrong order. This patch now fixes this issue by switching these xxxH and xxxL values. This brings the GPIO 405EP port in sync with all other PPC4xx ports. Signed-off-by: Stefan Roese <sr@denx.de>
2010-09-23ppc4xx: Move ppc4xx headers to powerpc include directoryStefan Roese
This patch moves some ppc4xx related headers from the common include directory (include/) to the powerpc specific one (arch/powerpc/include/asm/). This way to common include directory is not so cluttered with files. Signed-off-by: Stefan Roese <sr@denx.de>
2010-08-04Rename getenv_r() into getenv_f()Wolfgang Denk
While running from flash, i. e. before relocation, we have only a limited C runtime environment without writable data segment. In this phase, some configurations (for example with environment in EEPROM) must not use the normal getenv(), but a special function. This function had been called getenv_r(), with the idea that the "_r" suffix would mean the same as in the _r_eentrant versions of some of the C library functions (for example getdate vs. getdate_r, getgrent vs. getgrent_r, etc.). Unfortunately this was a misleading name, as in U-Boot the "_r" generally means "running from RAM", i. e. _after_ relocation. To avoid confusion, rename into getenv_f() [as "running from flash"] Signed-off-by: Wolfgang Denk <wd@denx.de> Acked-by: Detlev Zundel <dzu@denx.de>
2010-07-24cmd_usage(): simplify return code handlingWolfgang Denk
Lots of code use this construct: cmd_usage(cmdtp); return 1; Change cmd_usage() let it return 1 - then we can replace all these ocurrances by return cmd_usage(cmdtp); This fixes a few places with incorrect return code handling, too. Signed-off-by: Wolfgang Denk <wd@denx.de>
2010-07-04Make sure that argv[] argument pointers are not modified.Wolfgang Denk
The hush shell dynamically allocates (and re-allocates) memory for the argument strings in the "char *argv[]" argument vector passed to commands. Any code that modifies these pointers will cause serious corruption of the malloc data structures and crash U-Boot, so make sure the compiler can check that no such modifications are being done by changing the code into "char * const argv[]". This modification is the result of debugging a strange crash caused after adding a new command, which used the following argument processing code which has been working perfectly fine in all Unix systems since version 6 - but not so in U-Boot: int main (int argc, char **argv) { while (--argc > 0 && **++argv == '-') { /* ====> */ while (*++*argv) { switch (**argv) { case 'd': debug++; break; ... default: usage (); } } } ... } The line marked "====>" will corrupt the malloc data structures and usually cause U-Boot to crash when the next command gets executed by the shell. With the modification, the compiler will prevent this with an error: increment of read-only location '*argv' N.B.: The code above can be trivially rewritten like this: while (--argc > 0 && **++argv == '-') { char *arg = *argv; while (*++arg) { switch (*arg) { ... 2010-04-21Move arch/ppc to arch/powerpcStefan Roese

2009-12-07POST: Remove duplicated post_hotkey_pressed() functionsStefan Roese
This patch introduces a weak default function for post_hotkey_pressed(), returning 0, for boards without hotkey support. The long-running tests won't be started on those boards. 2009-10-13Clean-up of s3c24x0 drivers excluding nand driverkevin.morfitt@fearnside-systems.co.uk
This patch re-formats the arm920t s3c24x0 driver files, excluding the nand driver, in preparation for changes to add support for the Embest SBC2440-II Board. The changes are as follows: - re-indent the code using Lindent - make sure register layouts are defined using a C struct - replace the upper-case typedef'ed C struct names with lower case non-typedef'ed ones - make sure registers are accessed using the proper accessor functions - run checkpatch.pl and fix any error reports It assumes the following patch has been applied first: - [U-Boot][PATCH-ARM] CONFIG_SYS_HZ fix for ARM902T S3C24X0 Boards, 05/09/2009 - patches 1/4 and 2/4 of this series Tested on an Embest SBC2440-II Board with local u-boot patches as I don't have any s3c2400 or s3c2410 boards but need this patch applying before I can submit patches for the SBC2440-II Board. Also, temporarily modified sbc2410x, smdk2400, smdk2410 and trab configs to use the mtd nand driver (which isn't used by any board at the moment), ran MAKEALL for all ARM9 targets and no new warnings or errors were found.
