2016-07-19RegScavenging: Add scavengeRegisterBackwards()Matthias Braun
This is a variant of scavengeRegister() that works for enterBasicBlockEnd()/backward(). The benefit of the backward mode is that it is not affected by incomplete kill flags. This patch also changes PrologEpilogInserter::doScavengeFrameVirtualRegs() to use the register scavenger in backwards mode. getelementptr instruction One of several parallel first steps to remove the target type of pointers, replacing them with a single opaque pointer type. This adds an explicit type parameter to the gep instruction so that when the first parameter becomes an opaque pointer type, the type to gep through is still available to the instructions. * This doesn't modify gep operators, only instructions (operators will be handled separately) * Textual IR changes only. Bitcode (including upgrade) and changing the in-memory representation will be in separate changes. * geps of vectors are transformed as: getelementptr <4 x float*> %x, ... ->getelementptr float, <4 x float*> %x, ... Then, once the opaque pointer type is introduced, this will ultimately look like: getelementptr float, <4 x ptr> %x with the unambiguous interpretation that it is a vector of pointers to float. * address spaces remain on the pointer, not the type: getelementptr float addrspace(1)* %x ->getelementptr float, float addrspace(1)* %x Then, eventually: getelementptr float, ptr addrspace(1) %x Importantly, the massive amount of test case churn has been automated by same crappy python code. I had to manually update a few test cases that wouldn't fit the script's model (r228970,r229196,r229197,r229198). The extra 'rm' in the apply.sh script is due to a few files in clang's test suite using interesting unicode stuff that my python script was throwing exceptions on. None of those files needed to be migrated, so it seemed sufficient to ignore those cases. 2013-12-10Add TargetLowering::prepareVolatileOrAtomicLoadRichard Sandiford
One unusual feature of the z architecture is that the result of a previous load can be reused indefinitely for subsequent loads, even if a cache-coherent store to that location is performed by another CPU. A special serializing instruction must be used if you want to force a load to be reattempted. Since volatile loads are not supposed to be omitted in this way, we should insert a serializing instruction before each such load. The same goes for atomic loads. The patch implements this at the IR->DAG boundary, in a similar way to atomic fences. As on other hosts, the CPU identification instruction is priveleged, so we need to look through /proc/cpuinfo. I copied the PowerPC way of handling "generic". If we had a store of an integer to memory, and the integer and store size were suitable for a form of MV..., we used MV... no matter what. This is another prerequisite for frame-to-frame MVC copies. I'll commit the patch that makes use of the slot separately. The downside of trying to test many corner cases with each of the available addressing modes is that a fair few tests need to account for the new frame layout.
