2016-11-01[RISCV] Add stub backendAlex Bradbury
This contains just enough for lib/Target/RISCV to compile. Notably a basic RISCVTargetMachine and RISCVTargetInfo. At this point you can attempt llc -march=riscv32 myinput.ll and will find it fails due to the lack of MCAsmInfo. 2016-05-05Remove bit-rotten CppBackend.James Y Knight
This backend was supposed to generate C++ code which will re-construct the LLVM IR passed as input. This seems to me to have very marginal usefulness in the first place. However, the code has never been updated to use IRBuilder, which makes its current value negative -- people who look at the output may be steered to use the *wrong* C++ APIs to construct IR. Furthermore, it's generated code that doesn't compile since at least 2013. 2015-11-12Add AVR backend skeletonDylan McKay
This adds part of the target info code, and adds modifications to the build scripts so that AVR is recognized a supported, experimental backend. It does not include any AVR-specific code, just the bare sources required for a backend to exist. The name comes from "Berkeley Packet Filter", since new instruction set is based on it. This patch adds a new backend that emits extended BPF instruction set. The concept and development are covered by the following articles: http://lwn.net/Articles/599755/ http://lwn.net/Articles/575531/ http://lwn.net/Articles/603983/ http://lwn.net/Articles/606089/ http://lwn.net/Articles/612878/ One of use cases: dtrace/systemtap alternative. bpf syscall manpage: https://git.kernel.org/cgit/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/commit/?id=b4fc1a460f3017e958e6a8ea560ea0afd91bf6fe instruction set description and differences vs classic BPF: http://git.kernel.org/cgit/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/tree/Documentation/networking/filter.txt Short summary of instruction set: - 64-bit registers R0 - return value from in-kernel function, and exit value for BPF program R1 - R5 - arguments from BPF program to in-kernel function R6 - R9 - callee saved registers that in-kernel function will preserve R10 - read-only frame pointer to access stack - two-operand instructions like +, -, *, mov, load/store - implicit prologue/epilogue (invisible stack pointer) - no floating point, no simd Short history of extended BPF in kernel: interpreter in 3.15, x64 JIT in 3.16, arm64 JIT, verifier, bpf syscall in 3.18, more to come in the future. It's a very small and simple backend. There is no support for global variables, arbitrary function calls, floating point, varargs, exceptions, indirect jumps, arbitrary pointer arithmetic, alloca, etc. From C front-end point of view it's very restricted. It's done on purpose, since kernel rejects all programs that it cannot prove safe. It rejects programs with loops and with memory accesses via arbitrary pointers. When kernel accepts the program it is guaranteed that program will terminate and will not crash the kernel. This patch implements all 'must have' bits. There are several things on TODO list, so this is not the end of development. Most of the code is a boiler plate code, copy-pasted from other backends. Only odd things are lack or < and <= instructions, specialized load_byte intrinsics and 'compare and goto' as single instruction. Current instruction set is fixed, but more instructions can be added in the future. 2014-05-24AArch64/ARM64: move ARM64 into AArch64's placeTim Northover
This commit starts with a "git mv ARM64 AArch64" and continues out from there, renaming the C++ classes, intrinsics, and other target-local objects for consistency. "ARM64" test directories are also moved, and tests that began their life in ARM64 use an arm64 triple, those from AArch64 use an aarch64 triple. Both should be equivalent though. This finishes the AArch64 merge, and everyone should feel free to continue committing as normal now. git-svn-id: https://llvm.org/svn/llvm-project/llvm/trunk@209577 91177308-0d34-0410-b5e6-96231b3b80d8
2014-05-24AArch64/ARM64: remove AArch64 from tree prior to renaming ARM64.Tim Northover
I'm doing this in two phases for a better "git blame" record. This commit removes the previous AArch64 backend and redirects all functionality to ARM64. It also deduplicates test-lines and removes orphaned AArch64 tests. The next step will be "git mv ARM64 AArch64" and rewire most of the tests. Hopefully LLVM is still functional, though it would be even better if no-one ever had to care because the rename happens straight afterwards. git-svn-id: https://llvm.org/svn/llvm-project/llvm/trunk@209576 91177308-0d34-0410-b5e6-96231b3b80d8
2014-03-29ARM64: initial backend importTim Northover
This adds a second implementation of the AArch64 architecture to LLVM, accessible in parallel via the "arm64" triple. The plan over the coming weeks & months is to merge the two into a single backend, during which time thorough code review should naturally occur. Everything will be easier with the target in-tree though, hence this commit. git-svn-id: https://llvm.org/svn/llvm-project/llvm/trunk@205090 91177308-0d34-0410-b5e6-96231b3b80d8

llvm-c headers. This new library will be linked in when using the "all-targets" component and contains the LLVMInitializeAll* functions. This means that those functions will exist as real symbols in the shared library, and can therefore can be called from bindings that are using ffi the shared library. git-svn-id: https://llvm.org/svn/llvm-project/llvm/trunk@192690 91177308-0d34-0410-b5e6-96231b3b80d8

2013-05-06[SystemZ] Add back endUlrich Weigand
This adds the actual lib/Target/SystemZ target files necessary to implement the SystemZ target. Note that at this point, the target cannot yet be built since the configure bits are missing. Those will be provided shortly by a follow-on patch. This version of the patch incorporates feedback from reviews by Chris Lattner and Anton Korobeynikov. Thanks to all reviewers! 2013-01-31Add AArch64 as an experimental target.Tim Northover
This patch adds support for AArch64 (ARM's 64-bit architecture) to LLVM in the "experimental" category. Currently, it won't be built unless requested explicitly. This initial commit should have support for: + Assembly of all scalar (i.e. non-NEON, non-Crypto) instructions (except the late addition CRC instructions). + CodeGen features required for C++03 and C99. + Compilation for the "small" memory model: code+static data < 4GB. + Absolute and position-independent code. + GNU-style (i.e. "__thread") TLS. + Debugging information. The principal omission, currently, is performance tuning. This patch excludes the NEON support also reviewed due to an outbreak of batshit insanity in our legal department. That will be committed soon bringing the changes to precisely what has been approved. Further reviews would be gratefully received. git-svn-id: https://llvm.org/svn/llvm-project/llvm/trunk@174054 91177308-0d34-0410-b5e6-96231b3b80d8
